Tardy Policy
We have reminded students that when they come to school in the morning, they need to put their things away and come into the classroom right away. We have students that continuously spend time in the hallway talking with friends or playing in the bathroom. They are missing important morning meeting time and announcements. Students will be marked tardy if they are not in the classroom by 9:35 a.m. each morning.
Uniform Policy
Students need to be in uniform (red polo, navy blue pants, red or blue sweater) at all times. Please remind your student that their sweatshirts and sweaters need to be school uniform colors.
School Device Policy
We know that many students have cell phones and personal electronics (such as smart watches) for safety purposes and to maintain communication with families, however we are not allowing these devices to be used in school between the hours of 9:30-4:00 pm.
Here are our expectations:
-
Personal cell phones and electronics (including smart watches and earbuds) are not allowed to be used during the academic day (9:30 a.m.-4 p.m.) at Jie Ming Mandarin Immersion Academy.
-
It is strongly suggested that devices should remain at home or turned off and in lockers. Teachers will have a location to hold personal electronics in their classroom if families or students prefer, however Jie Ming Mandarin Immersion Academy is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged electronic devices brought onto school grounds or the bus.
-
Students who need to be in contact with their family during the academic day are to ask permission from their homeroom teacher to use one of our school phones. Parents are welcome and encouraged to contact our main office if there is a message that needs to be relayed.
Snacks, Candy, Gum, and Soda Policy
Students are not allowed to take snacks, candy, gum, or soda to school. If they are hungry, they can eat more food for breakfast and lunch by grabbing more food from the “share tables.”
Toy Policy
Students should not bring toys or other items to school. They are often a distraction to the learning day. If students bring something to school they will be asked to put it in their locker or the classroom teacher may keep it until the end of the day.
Students are allowed to bring fidgets but must get an okay from each teacher before using it in the classroom.
