Ping Chen

Dear second grade families,

Ni Hao! 你好！

Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year at Jie Ming Mandarin Immersion Academy! My name is Ping Chen. You can call me Chen Laoshi, which means Ms. Chen in Chinese. I’m so excited to be your child’s second grade teacher this year.

I joined Jie Ming in 2013, and this will be my 13th year at this wonderful school! I graduated from Shanghai Normal University with a degree in English and later earned my Master's Degree in English from Shanghai International Studies University. Before coming to the U.S. in 2007, I taught for 16 years in China. Teaching is my passion, and I feel very fortunate to be in a profession that inspires me every day. I currently hold a K-6 Minnesota teaching license. 

Outside of school, I love flowers and enjoy growing them, though I must admit I’m not much of a gardener! I also enjoy traveling with my husband and son.

In the classroom, my mission is to create learning opportunities that promote curiosity, critical thinking, compassion, and independence. I believe it is my responsibility to get to know each child deeply so I can meet their academic, social, and emotional needs effectively. The most powerful tool for creating a strong classroom community is communication. The more we connect, the more we understand, and the better we can support your child in becoming a confident and respectful global citizen.
