Ms. Wei Jiang

Hi, 4th graders, families, and friends,

Welcome to 4th grade! I am Jiang Laoshi (老师).

It's my great honor to be your child's 4th-grade teacher. I have 15 years of teaching experience with a master's degree in elementary education from Concordia University. I am also an Apple Learning Coach, and I strive to integrate technology into my teaching and students' everyday learning.

I was born and grew up in the Northeast part of China. Winter is my favorite season, and I love EVERY snowy day! I moved to Minnesota for snow in 2013 (Yeah! Snow~). I have an awesome husband who always supports me and a sweet toddler daughter who enjoys exploring everything. I am a train lover. I also like pizza, picnics, and BBQ. In my spare time, I love Chinese calligraphy, traditional Chinese painting, carving seal stones, and spending time with my family. Please see the pictures for some of my artwork.

I started my teaching career as an English teacher in a foreign language college in China in 2008. After moving to America, I joined Yinghua Academy (a Chinese immersion school in Minneapolis) for five years. I taught Chinese Language Arts, Singapore Math, Science, and Social Studies at Ying Hua. I joined Jie Ming as the 4th grade Chinese teacher in 2020.

This year, as part of my K-6 teaching licensure requirement, I need to share the teaching of the math subjects with Gan Laoshi during the first semester from 9/5 to 12/22. That means I will teach 4B math and Gan Laoshi will teach 4B Chinese during this period of time. We two will work together to prepare the lessons for Chinese and Math.  We are excited about this opportunity and will try our best to help our students.

After the winter break, when students come back to school, we will switch back, which means Gan Laoshi will teach 4B math, and I will teach 4B Chinese. During the whole school year, Gan Laoshi will send all math-related information to you, and I will be responsible for the Chinese part.

The teaching experiences in China and America have broadened my horizons and enriched my view of the world. I hope to share with my students the beauty of traditional Chinese culture while learning Chinese, and grow together with them.

I have high expectations for my students, and I'm looking forward to a successful year. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out via wei.jiang@spps.org. I will be more than happier to collaborate with you. Together we will help students grow to better themselves. Let's have some fun learning Chinese this year!
