Kavanaugh, Ryan

Mr. Kavanaugh, Ryan

Hi! My name is Ryan Kavanaugh and I am honored to be your child’s Physical Education teacher at Jie Ming Mandarin Immersion Academy. I have been teaching in St. Paul Public Schools since 2000 and I am committed to getting your child hooked on physical fitness for the rest of their life!

I graduated from the University of St. Thomas earning a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education and Elementary Education along with a certified coaching license. I completed my Master's Degree at the University of Minnesota under the Applied Kinesiology program with an emphasis on Sports Management. In my spare time, I love participating in all kinds of sports, traveling, and most importantly, spending time with my wife Katie and our two boys Calvin and Louis.

My curriculum is directly linked to the district and national standards for Physical Education which you will find below. Throughout the school year, children will be exposed to a wide variety of individual and team sports, lifetime physical activities, and cooperative games. Physical Education is for everyone and the main focus for each lesson is for students to be successful in a safe and positive environment while having fun!

Thanks for your support!
