谢老师 — Hailei Xie

Dear fifth-grade families,

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year at Jie Ming Mandarin Immersion Academy. My name is Hailei Xie, and you may call me “Xie Laoshi”. I am so excited to be your child’s fifth-grade Chinese teacher this year. 

I came from Qingdao, a beautiful coastal city in China. This is my eleventh year in teaching Chinese as a second language in a full immersion setting at different grade levels (elementary and middle school). I also taught college ESL for two years in St. Cloud State University during my graduate study. I have two master’s degrees at hand: a MA in TESOL from SCSU and a MEd.in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Minnesota. Currently I hold a MN K-12 World Language teaching license, and am working on getting my K-6 license. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, gardening, and painting. I also like traveling with my family.

I love teaching, and truly believe that every student is unique and can be successful. One of my goals for this year is to help the students to develop strong language skills and abilities in Chinese listening, speaking, reading and writing. I will try my best to help your child learn happily and productively.
